Got The Sun!

We had kind of a more RP-ish day on Tuesday. It’s rare that we do a whole lot of what people think of when they think of SL families. I mean, just answering questions from folks, they think we are in this constant RP mode where we’re doing dinners every night and tuck ins and all of that stuff. Truthfully, we’re kind of boring and most of the time we’re just sitting or standing around the house talking about random stuff or being quiet while we do our own things. *laughs*

But our friend Jill has opened up a little homeschool and the girls were invited to attend. Birdy, unfortunately, couldn’t do it because of her RL school, but Abby was excited to give it a try. She asked me on Monday if I would be able to take her to school, and if so, could I also take our friends Rory and Heath to school, too. The more, the merrier, so of course I said yes! I decided since we were doing the drop off thing, maybe I should be a better mom and feed the kids before we went. So before school, the kids had sandwiches and lemonade. [I considered cupcakes and soda, but I thought I’d take it easy on Jill and not get the kids all riled up!] My niecey, Riley, was also going to school, so I snatched her up before we left so she didn’t have to go on her own. School drop offs are very easy, and the kids were excited to see old friends, so I just dropped them off quickly and headed back home.

When I caught up with the kids later [I had to be offline for a while, so I dunno how they made it home. Magic, I guess.], they were quite happy with how their class had gone and I was glad! Schools come and go in SL and some of them have NOT been very good. I’m just happy the kids have something to do. There’s not always a lot that SL kids can go do where they can be together in a safe space.

Abby wasn’t feeling well so she went to bed early, and so Aldwyn and I took Birdy, Rory, and Heath out for dinner. The kids had to deal with my driving and they MIGHT have gotten an ocean bath on the way to get burgers, but… well, yolo. 🙂

I really had a lot of fun with everything on Tuesday. We don’t often do that kind of thing and we really should. Plus it was fun having more kids in the house. I’m soooo lucky that Aldwyn just rolls with the punches when we’re doing things because most of the time when he logs in, he doesn’t really know what he’s logging into. *laughs*

Got The Sun!

He really is wonderful and I probably don’t say that enough. ♥

And speaking of him, I’ve been putting his gift to good use and I made us this pose! Woo! It’s better than my last one. *laughs* Well, kinda. It’s still pretty rough but I’m learning how to work with the AnyPose. There are a few things I wish it had – like the ability to rotate the arms a little better, or being able to adjust how small the increment is when adjusting limbs. Or maybe there is and I don’t know because I don’t read instructions? I mean…that’s pretty likely. 🙂

But, if you like this pose, you can buy it here on marketplace. Because well, I think it’s cute, so if you think it’s cute, you might as well buy it.

Man, I’m good at marketing. *laughs*

Pick Me Up!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m sooo happy the holidays are over! It just feels better to be back into kind of a routine, you know?

One good thing about the holidays, though, is that you get presents sometimes! Aldwyn bought me the AnyPose pose maker thingy that lets you save your poses! I have been wanting this for a while but it was just one of those things that I couldn’t quite justify buying for myself. I am actually HORRIBLE at spending money on myself, in both lives. I wasn’t always, but it’s a struggle now to get me to buy sometimes even the most basic things because I feel like the money could be spent better on someone or something else. It’s actually a pretty bad habit to fall into. I don’t suggest it.

But I have wanted this gadget for a while because sometimes I can’t find the proper pose for either myself, or for posing with others. Aldwyn and I are quite different in size and so most poses don’t really work for us a lot of the time. I have the Avimote pose adjuster, but it just works on me, and I can’t save the pose later. [It’s actually a fabulous little gadget, though. I’ve used it LOTS of times over the past 4+ years.] So my new toy will help me with pictures with others, which can’t be anything but a good thing!

In fact, I already made a pose!

Pick Me Up!

It’s rough. *laughs* In fact, I had to pose Aldwyn twice because at one point I hit a button and he went into some crazy pose and it was just…bad. But then when I posed him again, I COMPLETELY forgot to move his legs at all. So they’re just kinda standing straight. Which kinda works for this pose, but it would look better if he had a little bend to the knee or something. But hey, for a first try, it’s not too bad. I threw it in my super random marketplace store for $1L in case anyone wanted it for whatever reason. I really can’t promise it fits anyone, though. 🙂

I think this thing is supposed to make simple animations, too, but let’s face it. I don’t read instructions. I probably should. Life might be easier if I wasn’t always winging it. *laughs*

Speaking of winging it, it’s time to try to figure out how to make dinner tonight. I have ingredients and I have kind of an idea. We’ll see what happens!

Mostly Ride, Not So Much Die.

To start off with… Hey, we’re having a party! Woo!!

Sim-warming Party Invitation!

[Little known fact about me, but every time I say we’re having a party, the song “Party” from the awful late 70s movie Junior High School runs through my head. It was Paula Abdul’s first acting gig and boy. It’s not good. But you can see her old nose. So there’s that.]

The party should be fun! We’ll be dancing in the barn, but if you come by, you’re more than welcome to run around the sim and explore!

One of the best parts of the sim, to me, is the fact that we have a huge road that goes all the way around! I just love driving these days, and I do it QUITE a bit. But tonight I was a bit laggy so I decided to let Aldwyn drive me around. He decided not to use a car, but instead pulled out a motorcycle. Hey, I’m ride or die! [Preferably not die, though.]

Mostly Ride, Not So Much Die.

Being driven around is just as fun as driving myself. Maybe more fun because I can snap pics. Of course, we did kind of get a surprise bath…but luckily in SL, motorcycles can fly. At least now we’re clean for the party!

And don’t tell me what to do.

So I have insomnia pretty bad most days. Like, it’s 3am right now and I’m not at all tired. I really wish I would just go to bed when everyone else does, but I’d just end up tossing and turning and doing nothing. Some nights, Aldwyn tries to get me to be sleepy, but it doesn’t always work.

And don't tell me what to do

He tries, but the insomnia is pretty strong. So he went to bed and I went outside to take a couple of blog pics and then came back in to watch tv and work on pics and braid my hair and drink some water and paint my nails.

You know what’s also strong? My brattiness. As we were staying goodnight, he told me, “I love you, don’t stay up too late.” My response?

“I love you, too, and don’t tell me what to do.”

🙂

Springtime

It’s family picture time! We always take pics with the whole family when we have parties and stuff, but I try to do a more “professional” decent picture of just the Zanzibars at least once a season. Given how nuts my little family is, trust me. This is not always easy. *laughs* But this is our picture for the spring of 2015!

Zanzibar Family - Spring 2015

They’re pretty adorable, huh? I think I’ll keep them.

We’ve also been busily packing for our rainforest vacation that we are going on with the Oleanders on Monday! I’m so excited to go!! I just LOVE our family vacations because it gives us all time to reconnect as a family. Sure, not a week goes by that we don’t all see each other, but vacations are different. It’s more of an immersive experience and I don’t know about the rest of the family, but I really do need that sometimes. My girls are pretty low maintenance, so I fall slightly out of practice of being more of a mommy. We get in the habit of basically just talking about our RL and stuff when we have a chance to be together in the evenings since we don’t always have much time together and so vacations give us more of a chance to play. 🙂

Tomorrow is our family Easter party with the Oleanders so that should be very fun. Easter was later in April last year, but it was the first family party our Birdy came to when she started her trial with us! I can’t believe it’s been just about a year since we met her!

Time for bed so we can continue packing a bit more tomorrow!

Yaaaawwwnnnn

It’s been a week since Aldwyn and I have been alone together, so tonight was really nice to just sit with each other as I redecorated our bedroom.

Yaaaawwwnnnn

So we have all been busy busy doing our Arcade shopping! Of course, that means extras, so we have our Yard Sale set up on Bluebonnet. We even have an upstairs area for older items. When I was up there earlier, I noticed there were a few old rares from previous Arcade rounds. There’s a teleporter at the sale that takes you up to the older stuff, so it’s not all mixed together or anything. I haaaaate when yard sales have all their stuff mixed together. Separate them! When I’m on a mission to find this round’s stuff, I don’t want to look through all your stuff from last year’s rounds and also every other gacha event on the grid. :-p

I really had a lot more I was going to say in here tonight but I think I waited too long to start writing and now I’m really sleepy! Oh well, I guess there’s always tomorrow. 🙂

I’m surrounded by your embrace

It’s late and my pixel feet are tired from all of the dancing tonight, but I had to do a special Valentine post for my special Valentine. [Of course, I don’t think he actually reads my blog!] I was actually going to have this dedicated to him at the party tonight with the song but that didn’t happen, so I get to write it here. 🙂

My love,

It’s been almost 6 years since we first met and almost 5 since you decided that I was worth spending more time with. We’ve never had a fight, you’ve never used harsh words against me, and you’ve been more patient with me than anyone ever has been. I’ve never had to worry about anything with you and that is a gift that sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve. You know my secrets and my past and you have never judged me. You have been my rock for almost 5 years, the one constant that I know I can count on. You call me your angel every day, but truthfully you have been mine. Happy Valentine’s Day, I love you!

Remember those walls I built?
Well, baby they’re tumbling down
And they didn’t even put up a fight
They didn’t even make a sound
I found a way to let you in
But, I never really had a doubt
Standing in the light of your halo
I got my angel now

It’s like I’ve been awakened
Every rule I had you breakin’
It’s the risk that I’m taking
I ain’t never gonna shut you out!

Everywhere I’m looking now
I’m surrounded by your embrace
Baby, I can see your halo
You know you’re my saving grace
You’re everything I need and more
It’s written all over your face
Baby, I can feel your halo
Pray it won’t fade away

I'm surrounded by your embrace.

But Not Purple Rain!

Just to do the business stuff, I still have the parcel available that I talked about in my last post. IM me to check it out!

Tonight we had a birthday party for my great-niece Tess! It was a Disney themed princess party! There was great music and lots of friends and family. By the time we took this pic, most had gone to bed, but you can still see how cute people looked! And also, I think all of them were smiling but I was really lagged out for some reason and didn’t catch everyone’s smiles. They were happy, I promise!

A Princess Party For Princess Tess

The guys, of course, couldn’t be princesses. [Well, not that there’s anything wrong with that, but they’re not really the princess type!] But there’s not really a whole lot in the way of Disney guys that are royal and even less if you’re trying to find any kind of a royal outfit in SL that is in any way current. When Aldwyn and I were talking about costumes last night and I told him the theme and he should be a prince, immediately I had to say, “But not Purple Rain!” Because…well…after almost 5 years together, I know him.

He came late to the party and I wasn’t really sure WHAT he had chosen to wear. When he teleported in with a huge flash of light and sparkles, there he stood, He-Man, Prince of Eternia. [Well, technically, He-Man isn’t the prince when he’s in his He-Man get up, but we’ll let that slide.] At this point, the girls were threatening to stop being Zanzibars and Abby went to hide under the stairs. Then he changed again into… Prince. PURPLE RAIN PRINCE. This is when I threatened to stop being a Zanzibar as well. *laughs* But finally he put on a decent royal outfit and I allowed him to be near me.

But Not Purple Rain!

But all in all, it was a super fun party. The girls got lessons in being princesses [like hold your dress up when you walk down the stairs so you don’t fall but not so high up you show your underpants], and the place was super pretty, and the music was great. I just love my family and our friends! Our parties are always so fun! 🙂

My Christmas Wish

‘Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight.
What more can I do?
Baby, all I want for Christmas is you.

This is our 5th Christmas together. I know, right?? I just had to go back through my blog to see if I had miscounted, even though I was counting on my fingers. But yep, our 5th Christmas. Even though I told him that all the Arcade stuff he got me is present enough, he still wanted to get me something else. I am easy to buy gifts for because I truly appreciate anything people give me. But I’m also quite hard to buy gifts for because I blog for a lot of my favorite stores already, plus I shop quite a bit on my own! So when he wants to give me something, it has to be something I wouldn’t normally buy for myself. Today Maitreya released their new mesh body. As soon as we signed on tonight, he dragged me down there to buy it. 🙂 I was planning on demoing it at some point but I already have the Slink Physique and only seem to wear that when I’m wearing things that show my legs. And not to mention that Pink Fuel doesn’t have appliers for it yet. But he didn’t care. He said it could sit in my inventory if I wanted, but he was buying it for me.

Who am I to argue?

We went home and I played around with it. I don’t wear Glam Affair skins [which are already preloaded into the HUD], but I happened to have some old ones from an event last year, plus the Slink appliers for one of the tones. It’s really a very nice body, and I like the alpha options. But until Pink Fuel does appliers for it, it’s not something I’ll wear often. Plus, let’s face it. I wear a lot of big sweaters and jeans. There’s basically so reason to wear a mesh body when you’re wearing that stuff.

But there are good reasons to have mesh bodies, too. Like when you want to wear pretty, skimpy clothes while smooching on the man who has been good to you for 5 Christmases. And while you kiss him, you make your Christmas wish that there will be more Christmases together in the future.

The Best Tree

The girls have been itching to get a Christmas tree up, so tonight we headed out to Inglewood’s Farm to cut our own tree down! The place is really lovely and there are things to do and see out there.

After we stopped at the little cafe to get coffee, we headed out into the tree farm to look for the best one. The girls ran around until they found the tree that they felt was the fluffiest.

The Best Tree

Luckily, Daddy Z is pretty handy with an ax. And he’s big and strong, because you know, we’re delicate girls. We couldn’t lug the tree around ourselves! We might get splinters! But he chopped and chopped and got us our tree.

Chopchopchop!

After we got our tree, met some reindeer [Birdy shared her coffee with them!], and Abby met a woman who probably didn’t realize that wearing pants is usually a good thing out on a snowy farm, we headed home to set up our new tree. There is still tons to do in the house to get it ready for Christmas, but we got our tree up, so that’s really what counts. But setting up a Christmas tree is hard work! It was bedtime for our little ones, but they didn’t want to stop looking at the tree.

Dreaming of Christmas

We have a busy couple of weeks coming up. Next week [the 17th], we’re having an ice skating party to celebrate Abby’s 1 year adoptaversary with us. Plus we are going to see the Polar Express and Santa with the Oleanders, and there will be an ugly Christmas sweater party and I think a camp fire stories night, too. Lots to do, but it’s all good stuff. 🙂

Goodnight!
