I just can’t come up with a title tonight.

I feel like I’ve been blogging all day. LOL I did 2 posts for my review blog and one post for WTFug. Now I can finally come in here and write.

I gotta say, I am really loving having a review blog now. It feels like I can come in here and just write again the way I used to. It makes me want to write more, actually. That may or may not be a good thing. 🙂

Oh, so for those of you who asked, my little kitten came through surgery just fine. A couple of hours after I got her home, she was very ready to come out of her carrier and was starving to death. But I’ve only been giving her little bits of food every few hours. Tomorrow she can resume normal feeding, but we still have to watch how playful she is for a week, which is not easy because even though she’s been unsteady on her feet, she’s been happy and playful as ever.

I finally made my way into Hair Fair today. It took me about 14 tries before I managed to get into a sim that wasn’t full, but then I couldn’t move. What is the use of having this massive busy build if people are having to put down their graphics settings just to be able to walk or rez anything? And don’t tell me it’s my computer. My video card is amazing and my computer is pretty powerful. I’ve had no issues at all since getting the video card replaced. I spent about 30 minutes at Hair Fair trying in vain to get things to rez so I could even see demos [I bought several demos sight unseen from different vendors because I figured I might as well]. I ended up slamming my graphics down to the very lowest setting and turned off things like the sky and the ground. I managed to be able to rez a littttle bit faster after that. But then right before I crashed, my graphics exploded and went crazy all over the screen.

Needless to say, my Hair Fair experience has been crap. :-p Oh well… I did manage to see half of a sim and grab the demos for the 2 stores I really wanted to see. Thank god they were on the same sim or I would have been totally screwed. Unfortunately none of them looked good on me, but maybe I was just totally against hair at that point. LOL

I’m exhausted, so I think it’s just about bedtime.

Are you serious?

So of course the whole big hoopla this weekend is Hair Fair 2009. Hey, I get it. I like new hair too, and sometimes the gifts out there are pretty decent. But what ended up happening this year is that some bloggers got butthurt over not being invited to a preview day.

Wow. Really? I mean, REALLY?

From what I’ve heard, this wasn’t even a blogger/media preview day. It was a day for the designers and their guests and the winners of some contest. Did some of the guests happen to be bloggers? Sure. We all have designer friends, show me someone in SL who doesn’t. And I can understand feeling left out when you’re in a group of fashion bloggers and everyone got in but you. But every other blogger – even the non-fashion ones! – getting all upset because they didn’t get in first? Give me a break.

First of all, if you’re a non-fashion blogger, just be quiet. You had no right to expect to get in on any kind of preview day. Maaaaybe if you write some kind of super current events blog, or a blog specifically for charity events in SL, MAYBE. But other than that, shush.

And as for fashion bloggers, well holy cow, the sims only hold so many people. You probably would have just been crying for lag anyway when the 500 fashion bloggers out there descended upon the place.

I am lucky to get “press passes” for different events once or twice a month. The phrase “press pass” cracks me up when I get it because I don’t consider myself press. I’m just a girl with a blog. [Well, two blogs now that I moved my reviews over here. Three, if you count WTFug. Holy cow, I write a lot.] I’ve yet to really go to any of these events. The lag, the bitching, the bumping into people – it’s kind of part of the fun of these expos and fairs. And it gives me an excuse for not spending too much. 😉 I DO like getting unreleased stuff first, but heck, who doesn’t? But as far as crying because I DIDN’T get it first? Yeah, you know… LOL

Look, this isn’t elementary school. You’re not going to always get a Valentine from each kid in the class and you’re not always going to get invited to every party. You’re just NOT. Why let it get you down? Just have fun and go later. You’re not OWED anything. Besides, you know these things – fairs, expos, hunts – are always all chaotic and not fully set up the first day anyway. Save yourself the headache and just go later.

And that’s my $2L for today. :-p

A little chattier than I thought.

Ever had one of those days where you just wake up feeling out of sorts? I’m having one of those today. Could be due to me not sleeping very well last night. Could be due to the dreams I had while I slept. Could be due to the fact that I haven’t eaten very much lately and what I do eat isn’t exactly good. [Did you know you can’t live on sporadic bites of mac & cheese and copious amounts of diet coke?]

I’m also now ready to change how my blog looks. Oh, not that it looks bad or anything. But the header I have is really suited more for summer. And of course I’m wondering which template won’t break the blog. lol I have a picture I’d like to use as a header but I have to resize to fit and all of that.

This picture isn’t the one I’ll use for my new header, but it’s similar.

By the ocean

And yes, I have been wearing dark hair lately. Not all the time, you’ll never get me to give up being a blonde. But for long straight styles, dark hair just works so much better. I’m sure the blondes out there will agree with me. There’s no gaping seam line around the head or in the ponytail with the dark hair. Someone said if I just set the hair to full bright, it won’t show up on the blonde hair. Yeah, but then my head looks radioactive. I might as well add prim glow and bling and call it a day. If ever a designer can work around that, AND make a decent blonde shade, AND not rely heavily on sculpties or alphas to do it, I will buy out their entire store. Even the hair I don’t like that much.

I got to meet up with a blog reader of mine yesterday [Hi Gwendolyn!] for a prim skirt fitting. Well, not that she had much to do. 🙂 Fitting prim skirts or wondering if they look right to others is a pain and a half. I definitely know that from experience. Of course, fitting most any prim attachment can be a pain. I’ve seen you ladies get frustrated at your eyelashes! [Are you setting your default lash line to 0 before you start trying to fit them? You won’t be able to see what you’re doing if you don’t do that first. The lashes don’t have to be EXACTLY on your eyelid. Unless someone’s staring hard at you from the side, if they are not exactly touching your face, no one will notice!]

One of the funniest things from meeting with Gwendolyn was that she’s taller than me, and apparently when people meet me for the first time, if they are the “normal” SL height, they feel too tall. It’s always kind of funny to me when someone tells me that I’m SO short, or asks me if they’re just TOO tall. The answer is – I’m small. SL is built on a very large scale. Houses are usually large inside so you have room to move your camera. Furniture is made big. Couples poseballs are designed for a tall couple, not one of varying heights. As someone who has been short in SL from the beginning, I’ve learned how to compensate. I’ve learned to adjust prims, adjust poseballs, find furniture that fits. It doesn’t bug me much anymore, although it used to.

But, I have been growing a bit lately. Oh, not much. According to my scale, I’ve grown 2 inches, from 5’6 to 5’8. In SL terms, that’s barely noticeable. Of course, then I put on my super high shoes and suddenly I’m 6’0 tall.

Getting taller

For some reason, the shoes also added 27 pounds. And you wonder how I stay so thin walking around with weights like THAT on my feet.

Levi and I hit up the Hair Fair last night, and after a crash, I now have to go back through my groaning inventory and find the demos and freebies I picked up, throw away the demos, try on the freebies, and throw away any bad ones. My inventory is becoming too massive. I’m inching up on 30k very quickly, if I haven’t passed it already and didn’t notice. But I really want to thank the hair designers that had decent mens hair out at the fair. It’s so hard to find hair that looks good for men, which is why I think a lot of them end up all wearing the exact same hair, or just go bald with the painted on hair. lol Poor men. If I ever learn to make hair, I promise to make you all some.

This post came out longer than I anticipated. I need to do some RL things and then head in world to pick out a great date outfit. My baby and I have a date tonight. 🙂 Oh I know, we are together most of the time [not nearly enough in my opinion, but I’m clingy]. But this is an actual date with an actual location to go to. 🙂

Making a post out of nothing at all

I have a bunch of blog posts in my head. But with doing other blog posts, reading other blogs, plurks, parties, spending time with Levi & Cen, RL things, and a little detective work – well…who has time to write?

Plus, when I DO sit down to write posts, they end up being SO long. And I do mean long. So I’ve saved a couple, but I have to go back and try to revamp them to be shorter.

But until I do that, we’ll talk about something else. 🙂 I FINALLY managed to shove myself in to Hair Fair. I know, I said I wasn’t going on opening day, but I just couldn’t live another moment without THIS hair from Curio.

My new favorite hair!

This one is called Lovely, and it so is. The moment I had tried on the demo, I just couldn’t get it out of my head. I also picked up Rabid while I was at the Curio stall, because I love love love it too.

The lag was, of course, horrific. And believe me, some of those women strutting around put the “HOR” in horrific. Just for fun, I had turned on the Avatar Rendering Cost thing before heading out there. I had an ARC of 1. I didn’t have any scripted things, any prims, nothing. I get out there and the red numbers are ALL over. I mean, just flashing here and there. 2000, 3000, 5000… It was bad. Now I know that ARC isn’t the be-all/end-all of lag measuring. But it was something to see, that’s for sure.

So I make it over to the Curio stall, FINALLY, and then I decide to go look for the Pixel Dust stall. Well, lag starts getting worse and worse. I even resort to that box trick that everyone out there was doing, even though I’m pretty sure that might have been lagging the place out, too. But I couldn’t walk, and I do have a pretty good computer, you know? I look out and I see a bright red ARC, and it looks really long. I think, “Oh, two avatars must be on top of each other.” As I’m trying to move my box around, I stop and I cam over to the number. 132,051.

I almost fall off my box.

I rub my eyes, I stare more, and it doesn’t change. Over 130,000 ARC!! How…how is that possible?! I’m staring at this guy and I take a picture, even though because he was a ways away from me and SL was making his eyes look crazy.

ARC of over 130,000.

I still have no idea how his ARC was THAT high. I tried to move my box a little closer so I could inspect his hair, just to see what was up. But unfortunately, I crashed trying to do that. And my box is lost at the Hair Fair. I think it’s near the Hair Solutions stall, if anyone wants to delete it. lol

After that whole thing, I spent some time hanging out on a posestand, fixing my new hair and chatting with the group. Then I got really bored and I went shopping. I ended up buying the cutest lingerie at Insolence!! I cannot wait for Levi to get home so I can show it to him. 🙂

I guess I’ll head to bed. I have some RL visiting to do tomorrow, and that usually requires at least 6 hours of sleep. LOL
