Winter came early!

So I was standing around staring at myself in the mirror, as you tend to do when you’re never quite satisfied with your face, when I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. At first I thought I was probably just having a stroke, but no! It was SNOW!! Snow falling down on Bluebonnet earlier than expected! I had to run outside to see!

Hey It's snowing!

Then I ran back inside because I was really cold.

I didn’t realize winter was coming early, but sure enough, there was a rumble outside and the Grand Bluebonnet Mountains came out of the depths of the sea. They only come when winter is here to stay, and in the spring they go sinking back down into the abyss of the ocean. Funny how that works, huh? Then the pond froze over and I threw on a coat and skates and went to play!

Skating time!

Aldwyn, Ulaa, and I are going to be throwing a winter party soon, so we took advantage of our time together and started setting up the Lima Heights Winter Park. I am in love with the place!!! It’s not completely finished yet, but so far we have trees [lots of trees thanks to Ulaa and Caelan!] and benches and in the gazebo we have some couches to rest on and space for dancing and in the corner there is a gingerbread house and SANTA!!! I just love love love it!

Winter Park

[Yeah, I got overly excited and took the picture without waiting to see if the house would even show up in it. My draw distance was low.]

Near the rink, there are some benches in case you get tired, and a stand with hot chocolate. Plus, if you don’t have skates, we have some free ones! BUT – you have to be in a mesh enabled viewer to use them. I grabbed the first ones I saw that looked good and I thought they were sculpted, but they’re mesh. Sorry about that! [Okay, not really sorry. I want everyone to use mesh. LOL]

I just can’t wait to get home tonight to play more in the park!

If you lived here, you’d be home by now!

Oh hi! Are you looking for a nice place to live with great neighbors and stuff? Welcome to Bluebonnet!

Okay, so for real, I have two small parcels for rent right now. [Or one big one. I can join them together.] Parcel #1 is 3312sqm and has 758prims. And Parcel #2 is 2944sqm and has 673prims. I am a pretty easy going landlady. As long as you don’t put up any ugly or overly large buildings on the ground, I pretty much let you do what you want with your parcel. You’re able to terraform and control your access list. The island is usually fairly quiet and lag free. I’m huge on checking scripts and anything causing collisons so that we can all have the best experience on the island.

What else? If you rent one, you can live near Aldwyn and me!

I like to rake leaves

Or near Heidi & Black and their springtime parcel!

They have spring on their parcel

Aisuru’s parcel is always really tastefully done and gorgeous.

Aisuru's lovely home

Or if you’re into the more whimsical stuff, Emerald usually has a ton to look at!

Emerald's place of wonder

If you’re interested in checking out either parcel, please feel free to IM me and I’ll be happy to show it to you and discuss renting!

Oh. It probably would have been awesome had I taken a picture of the parcels rather than just running around to all the neighbors’ yards, huh?

You’re the lace in my shoe

As much as I love pink, I started to think that all the pink in the master bedroom was too much pink. Especially since, you know, I don’t live by myself anymore and this is OUR bedroom as opposed to just MY bedroom. So I set about today and changed the wallpaper, and then set up the room with stuff I forgot I had bought. Al seems more comfortable in the room now.

“It was a lot of pink.”
“Yeah, and I know how you love punk. Pink.”
“Haha! You totally typoed when you spoke. You spoke-oed!”

Things in the house are progressing nicely. I really only have to finish up the dining room and I think that’ll be that for inside the house. We want to have a housewarming party when it’s all done. Maybe in the backyard!

The back shot

I’m thinking I might just let Al do most of the backyard. After all, I’ve done pretty much everything so far inside and this is his house too. He was talking about a brick something or other, like for the grill. Like I told him, he can totally do what he wants. Of course, if I don’t like it, I’ll change it, but he said he expects that. :-p

He did put out his grill. Then I put out the cows.

It’s actually RAINING here tonight, and the air is totally cool, so I think I’m going to go snuggle into bed and enjoy it. Goodnight!

Don’t rain on my parade!

The honeymoon is almost over! Well, I mean, not in a BAD way. LOL! In that “We’re about to start our home together” way. Tonight Aldwyn started to move out of his beach place that he’s had for ages.

Moving Out

He’s looking wistfully at the beach and thinking back to his carefree bachelor days. I’m back there yelling “Move faster!”

Ulaa has been building on a house and it’s been my habit to usually live in whatever her newest build is, as long as it fits my needs/themes. Her new house is really pretty and I think I’ll be able to decorate it well. She was less than sure of the outside color but once she put down the color she wanted, things started moving. But then she asked us what we thought about the inside colors. Al said it was fine except for the upstairs paper being a little girly, although he could live with that, and the fact that the kitchen was yellow. He hates yellow. I tried to persuade him not to rain on my parade and he was all, “No! If we have a yellow kitchen, I will divorce you!” And then he hit me and um…. like kicked me and…. yeah.

So Ulaa and I set about trying to find new wallpaper for the kitchen. I’m kind of old school/eclectic with my decorating, so the wallpaper we chose just makes me all kinds of happy in the pants because it’s so fun!

New kitchen!

Awww, little veggies and fruit and stuff! We should have it by tomorrow or so, whenever she gets a chance to finish it up. Then the fun can really begin!

Oh, and I figured I would blog this and see if lightning strikes twice for me. πŸ™‚ We have a residential parcel available on Bluebonnet for hopefully a long term renter. [Long term meaning you plan on sticking around longer than a month.] 6256sqm parcel, 1431 prims. $2500L weekly rent. You are able to terraform and manage your access list. Plus if you super hate someone, I’ll simwide ban them. The island doesn’t have much lag at all, the neighbors are nice, and we’re fairly quiet. If you’re interested, please feel free to IM me in world and I’ll be happy to arrange a time to show it to you!

Okay, bedtime!

The Girl Next Door

I’ve made it pretty much policy that the only renters on Bluebonnet should be people that I’m currently friends with. Only ONCE have I not done that, and it actually worked out REALLY well, thank goodness!! I’ve just always found that having my friends there means there’s pretty much no sim drama, everyone is fairly quiet, and the place stays pretty cute. I’m not one of those “all up in your bidness” landladies. Pretty much anything they want to do with their parcel, as long as they’re not being an asshole, they can do.

But that doesn’t mean that I don’t like going around and seeing what people are up to! I enjoy exploring around the island to see landscaping and decorations. [I don’t go in houses/skyboxes unless I’ve been told I can. I know people say “It’s just SL” but I think you should still be invited into private homes and not wander in like you have no home training.] Today I popped over to my newest residents’ place. They had originally had a huge blacktop with a bomb and stuff, so I had to go check it out once I saw that they put a house down. And…I had to play in their sprinkler!

Playing at the neighbors

I hope they don’t mind. I didn’t smash the grass down too much or anything.

Aldwyn and I still haven’t put up a house yet. I know where I want to put it when we get it, approximately, but I’m still not sure if I want to face it so we’re looking at the off-sim stuff I bought for the wedding, or if we want to make that the backyard.

Holy shit! I’ve been married for one whole week!!

So i’m gonna shake and shimmy it with all my might today…

You know, way back before I was married [Well, like last week.] I was perfectly able to entertain myself for hours. I’m not the kind of person who allows herself to get bored very often because boredom, from myself or others, irritates me a lot! You can’t expect other people to constantly be in your face making sure that you’re amused. It’s totally annoying to other people!

But, I’m only human, and I found myself a little bored tonight. Mmm…Okay, I’m lying. It wasn’t that I was really BORED, it was mostly that I wanted something to do so that I wouldn’t have to clean my inventory!! So I guess I didn’t want to be entertained as much as I wanted to be distracted. And since Aldwyn put a ring on it, I figure that’s pretty much like saying he has to be there to entertain me. I mean, I’m PRETTY sure that was in the vows.

However, he was busy playing with his new laptop speakers and NOT paying attention to me. I KNOW, RIGHT? So I set about finding random things to do. Heck, I even made the island flooded again because it makes me laugh so much when I do it.

Oh another flood

Luckily for Al [and the rest of the island], he logged in fairly soon after the flooding. Of course, he started the conversation with “How much trouble did you cause?” Grumble. We spent the rest of the evening in the gazebo dancing and talking. I love the nights we can spend talking about things that are on our minds for hours. It’s never long enough to me. πŸ™‚

Tonight he wasn't too lazy to dance

I still have to clean inventory, though. Al says he does, too. He suggested we get friends together to clean inventory. I think that would be fun! Well, as long as no one get all weird about seeing body parts, since the inventory cleaning parties I’ve had before usually led to a bunch of naked girls on posestands.

Hmm. We might need to think about this.

Over the past week or so, I’ve had black streaks in my hair whenever I try to take a picture with shadows. Someone on plurk said they had the same issue and a fresh install of SL fixed it. Thinking about it, I realized that I haven’t done a fresh, clean install of SL in WELL over a year. I just keep installing new viewers and updating on top of everything. Back when I used to help run a little browser based game site, once in a while we’d do a complete fresh install of the game. It made everyone lose a lot of what they had earned, but it’s not like anyone paid to play, and we always gave them some game money to replace things.

I set out to uninstall ALL the viewers on my system today. I had SEVEN different viewers. Seven!! After uninstalling, I went into my program files folder and my documents folder and deleted all the folders that were left over. I installed one viewer [LL’s beta viewer] and guess what? No black streaks in my hair, and everything was working pretty flawlessly! I didn’t crash when taking shadow pics even once, and was able to keep running around and all! So if you’re having loads of issues, copy your windlight settings to another folder [something you should do anyway if you have ones that you don’t want to lose] and do a fresh install. It might clean up some problems for you!

I’ve been working on the island today. I remember when I used to be more scared of terraforming and I didn’t want the island to change too much from how it was when I first moved there. Not so anymore. I have gone nuts on my parcel. Does it look good? Well, time will tell. I’m not done yet, and still need to invest in more landscaping items. Once I get my new house, then I can really finish up. But since I don’t have my house, Biscuit and I have been camping out in my trailer. At least, until today when I picked up the trailer and put down this taco stand.

Butterdish used to be one of my favorite places to go for pictures, but once I got over how pretty it was, I was also amazed at the funny little builds that were sold there for so very very cheap. I picked up that little stand last year sometime and once in a while, I remember that I have it.

Biscuit wasn’t that impressed. She fell asleep while ordering.

She's ordering!

Did I mention that she dug up a 500 regard point arrowhead last night? LOVE HER.

Are we there yet?

In my physical world, my house kind of sucks. Oh, it’s big enough, and it’s nice, but I’ve never taken an interest in decorating it. I have some items above the fireplace that I move out of the way when I dust. I have two small prints hanging on the wall in front of me. My bedroom looks like a Jersey Shore cast member lives there. I’ve just never had an interest in decorating, and I never felt like I knew what went together anyway.

But in the past year, I’ve REALLY learned to love decorating in SL. I guess maybe because the home & decor genre had gotten so good. Yeah, a lot of the time it’s the same sculpts being used by many stores, but sometimes you come across people who use the sculpt kits in a very nice way.

A few weeks ago, I showed Ulaa a photo of a house I liked. She’s been battling a pretty heavy flu, but managed to work on it, putting her own spin to the design. It came out sooooo amazing. I have never loved a house as much as I love this one. It’ll be blogged over in my style blog when she’s ready to release, so I won’t show pics [although if you’re on my plurk, you’ve seen pics here and there], but I was upstairs decorating and noticed just what a beautiful view I have from my bedroom balcony.

Bedroom view

My island and my new house are exactly what I needed this week. It’s been so freezing cold here, but spring is on its way, and soon there will be green beauty in both my worlds. And who knows? Maybe I’ll even bring my SL decorating sense into my physical world.

If you lived here, you’d be home by now!

I’m sitting here killing time before I head off to zumba tonight, so I thought I’d blog some stuff. Aren’t you happy?! LOL

As everyone knows, I have a residential island. I normally just rent parcels to my friends because it’s easier that way. But, the last time I blogged that I had an open parcel, it turned out awesome because I got Lolita as a renter, and I didn’t know her before that. πŸ™‚ So hey, why not try it again? I have an open parcel! It’s 7936sqm and has 1816 prims. The island is fairly quiet, we change terrains for the seasons, and the neighbors are amazing! It is residential only, but I don’t mind if you keep your Marketplace boxes there. Breedables are allowed as long as it doesn’t get out of control and lags up the sim. πŸ™‚ You have terraforming rights for your parcel, and you manage your own access list. If there’s someone you really hate, hey, let me know and I’ll simwide ban. LOL

If you’re interested, IM me in world and I’ll be happy to show it to you and discuss money. πŸ™‚

Whew, now that all that business stuff is out of the way…

I’ve been trying to get better at Photoshop stuff. I don’t know, I just don’t have the patience/talent for it, but I do try. Last night as we were winding down for the night, I was playing with shadows and stuff and I snapped a picture of Aldwyn and me. Then I photoshopped the SHIT out of it. Someone else could have done more, I think, but I used all my minimal skills to try to make it pretty. This is the unedited shot:

unedited version

And then………

Pretty butterfly

Go me! LOL!

Maybe one day I’ll get better at making everything all smooth and pretty. I see some of the work my Flickr contacts do and it is oh my God amazing. I want to ask “How did you DO that?!” but somehow I don’t think that all of them would be willing to sit and teach someone who can barely use the curves function in Photoshop. If anyone knows any good tutorials [I like video tutorials a lot], please pass them on. It would be much appreciated!

Oh. And if you think Aldwyn and I are always sitting around, gazing at each other… it’s not true. Sometimes he attempts to run me down with a bus.

Short bus!

Seriously – who WOULDN’T want to live on Bluebonnet with all this fun that goes on!?

Oh. Don’t answer that. πŸ™‚

"To know how to free oneself is nothing…

…the arduous thing is to know what to do with one’s freedom”

So yesterday when I got up, I thought, “I don’t have to blog today! I don’t have to blog today!” As the day went on, it became more “I don’t have…to blog today! I … um… I don’t have to blog today? OH MY GOD, I don’t have to blog today?! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!?”

Because, let’s face it. I’m a blogger. I have to write about my life or I die. LOL! Okay, maybe not that extreme, but I like to write and share pictures from my SLife. But the good thing about it not being part of the 365 day project anymore is that I can share pics that I’ve taken previously. That makes it more fun!

A couple of days ago I remembered someone showing me the Sim Surround on the Marketplace. It’s pretty cool! You know how on most private islands, it’s just water all the way around and you’re staring off into nothing? And you know how a lot of us have gotten off sim items to try to create the illusion of more … MORE? Well, with Sim Surround, you can plop it down on your island and bam! You’ve got mountains and stuff!

[Oh. They should hire me to do their PR. Because you wouldn’t respond to “Bam! Mountains and stuff!” ?? No one!]

Ulaa went in on it with me and we were the proud owners of some awesome winter mountains. Then we went snowboarding around the island because seriously? The mountains just MAKE it winter on the island.

Don’t make fun of our boots. They go with the snowboards & we can’t change them.

I am seriously in love with the mountains. Just in love. I look at them and squeal a little bit each time. They provide a lovely backdrop for my house too.

winter night

And just to share a couple of pictures I took and liked…

Ulaa the nose picking stalker. LMAO! I was AFK a little bit last night and when I came back, Aldwyn & Ulaa were on Skype laughing because she landed on the house outside the window and she looked like a big stalker.

Nose picking stalker

And speaking of Aldwyn, I took this picture the other night and I love it like I love cake. And I do love cake.

Whew. I blogged. I feel better now.
