You’ll Be In My Heart

Tonight was scouts night, and since we’re winding down for the season [there is a 2 month summer break], the kids had a make-up badge night so that if anyone didn’t get their fishing badge, they could get it tonight.

Bumblebee Fishing, Take 2 - 1

After scouts, usually the family hangs out for a bit, but tonight as the kids were saying goodbye to us, we looked around and OUR kids were gone! It was then that Takeo told us that they actually had a late Mother’s Day surprise for Lolita and me! How sweet is that??

We were tped over to the Oleanders’ home and were met with gifts and the kids choreographed a dance to “You’ll Be In My Heart” for us! I wasn’t able to get a good picture, so here’s a gif that my sister did of the kids. 🙂

It was just all so sweet! We seriously have just the best kidlets in SL.

For our gift? The kids got pictures done by Melaniebianca Lyric! I have been wanting to get a picture done for the girls, so this was really just the best gift they could have gotten me! Riley, Payton, and Raven had one done for Lolita, too! This is the one of my girls.

It was just such a great night, and great to have everyone together. The next couple of days will be different because Aldwyn will be out of town tomorrow night and busy Saturday, and Abby is busy Saturday, too, so it might be Sunday until we’re all together again. Maybe the girls and I can work on the post I keep meaning to do on how to enter the kid and family community with as few issues as possible.

But right now I’m sleepy and happy, so I’m going to bed while I’m still smiling.

Day 365 – All Endings Are Also Beginnings

And so we come to the final day of my 365 Day Project. It took me almost 2 and a half years, but hey. I did it. :-p

I had a lot of thoughts of what I wanted my final post to be. I wanted it to be insightful. Maybe inspirational. I wanted my photo to be perfect. But as I got closer to the date, it became clear to me how it should end. I still wanted my photo to be perfect, though.

When I started this project for the second time, I was coming off of a year that was probably one of the most stressful of my life, but one that also had a few high moments. We had just had our 3 month SL wedding anniversary and we were very much in our own tiny world. Heck, even just looking back at those first pictures of 2012, we even LOOKED younger. I was not even wearing that much mesh! :-O

But as the year progressed and went into 2013, I realized that I was lonely. Not when Aldwyn was with me, of course. But when he wasn’t with me, I was often alone. I knew I needed something more, I just didn’t know what. I was scared to let anyone into our bubble. I didn’t want to enter anyone else’s bubble. Then one summer day last August, I took a landmark and answered a question that started a whole new world for me.

As the end of this project started to come, and our trial with Brianna went on, I knew how I wanted to end this. I wanted to end it with a beginning. A beginning, and a perfect picture.

Day 365 - All Endings Are Also Beginnings

After Lolita dumped us from the sky after scouts, I got this idea in my head that for her surprise adoption, we should go skydiving, as falling from the sky and laughing was kind of Brianna’s introduction to the craziness that is our family. I found the right target and the right parachutes. I put together a pretty note, lights, sunflowers, and sparkles. She and I jumped time after time last night so I could make sure that she would get right in the vicinity of the target. In my head, it would be perfect.

But nothing is perfect in life, and I think that’s what makes it so beautiful! I sent the family up in the skydiving pod and jumped out immediately, running to the target to put the sign and everything up. Then I heard SPLAT! SPLAT! SPLAT! Abby, Lolita and Raven fell to the ground without their parachutes opening. Brianna went sailing off into the water way on the other side of the target. I was DYING and laughing and yelling “Okay! Everyone run towards the target!!”

I was laughing and nervous all at the same time. I was shaking. Brianna said she cried. Aldwyn would not rez for me even after 2 relogs and a cache cleaning. Once he finally did, I just laughed and snapped a picture. This wasn’t the perfect adoption I planned, but it was perfect for our family.

[21:09] Second Life: Brianna Serendipity is now known as Brianna Jade Zanzibar.

So this is the end of the 365 Day Project for me. It’s a new beginning for our family. It’s not the end of blogging for me. It’s the beginning of a new chapter.

Thank you if you’ve been reading for a while. There is definitely more to come!

Day 361 – Coming Together

Tonight was scouts night! Our little Bumblebees got to hear the story of Robin Hood, and then did archery! I really adore our scout meetings. We always do something fun, and just being around the kids is a real delight. Most of the kids that are in scouts with us are dedicated kids, so their little emotes and gestures are just too too adorable for words! I wasn’t able to get any pictures tonight because I was lagging like crazy, but Brianna did, so I’m stealing one of her pics.

sim scouts story time

Things are really starting to come together with our trial with her. I feel like once we completed the “official” Heritage trial, we all got a lot more relaxed. I know I did, anyway. Not just because a week is not REALLY enough of a trial time, but also the constant messages saying a child [or a parent] has registered and is at the facility RIGHT NOW were very grating. I don’t know how many kids are in SL, but in just a few hours overnight, I’d get on average 10 offlines like that. Then there is the whole “You have X days left in your trial!” messages. I understand why they do it, but it can be a little nervewracking.

But now that we’ve decided to extend our trial on our own, things are definitely calmer. We can get to know each other at our own pace. Tonight was just fun because we got to be with the scouts, then with the family. Of course, we did have one hysterical moment that had everyone laughing until we were gasping when Lolita was trying to pick up some of the things in the archery area and accidentally picked up the dome we were in. Everyone just went falling down to the ground from 3500m up! We were all laughing so dang hard, no one even hit Fly. We just kept falling! Even now just writing about it, I’m cracking up! The kids were doing their “Ahhh!” gestures and my sis and I were laughing like crazy and Takeo said, “Well…is scouts over?” It was awesome!

After our crash landing, the Oleanders came over to see our new house. Riley was a sweetheart and dropped off a kitchen for me, so after we chatted with them for a while, and after people fell out of the window a few times [I dunno], I set about to making it work in our kitchen area. Abby had to go to bed so Bri, Aldwyn, and I stayed on skype for the rest of the night while I moved stuff around. We haven’t been just the three of us on skype, so it was nice to get that time together.

Day 361 - Coming Together

I don’t think the kitchen is actually that BIG, but when you’re shorter like me, sometimes you need a stepstool!! It probably fits Aldwyn just fine. Maybe I should make him do the cooking from now on?

And I just noticed that after this post, I only have 4 more to finally complete my 365 day project. It’s only taken me over 2 years. *laughs*

Day 358 – Let’s Bunny It Up!

After Abby asked us about the possibility of adopting another kid, she and I headed to Heritage just to check out some of the cards. We were both very surprised when we both found a girl that seemed pretty cool. She wrote without baby talk, she was the right age, her time zone and times she can be in world mesh well with ours, and she’s more of a “girly tomboy” like Abby. So I went ahead and made us a card and put up a panel so we could “like” her panel. I kind of didn’t expect anything to come of it. After all, we’re kind of picky and I put everything we expect and want in our notecard. I had to give it to Abby to look over before setting up the panel because I wanted to know if I made us sound like jerks in the card. *laughs*

Surprisingly, last night Brianna, the girl that we liked, liked us too!! Abby had been up at Heritage hanging out and they had actually been chatting before Brianna liked our panel. So she brought her home. 🙂 Abby wasn’t able to stay up too long, so I got to sit and chat with Brianna for a while, and then Lolita and Takeo came over and got to meet her. She’s kind of shy, but I think that is good. If she came in all loud and getting too familiar too fast, I think I’d be like “K…maybe not.” LOL! But she’s sweet and by the end of the night, we decided that we wanted to go ahead with the trial period.

Tonight she kind of got a “trial by fire” with the whole family [minus Aldywn, who had an unexpected obligation pop up] with our family Easter party! The kids got dinner [where we learned that like Riley, Bri also doesn’t eat anything with a face] and then they got Easter baskets! Lolita, Takeo, and I dressed as little bunnies and danced for the kids while they ate, so it was dinner and a show! The egg hunt was loads of fun because it was a nighttime hunt and they had to run around with their flashlights to find their eggs.

Nighttime Easter Hunt!

It was so much fun!! Of course, my sister and I knew where the eggs were because we had hidden them, but the kids had a blast running around and finding eggs. Payton is super good at egg hunting and found them in no time flat! It was so so cute to watch them running around.

After the hunt, we all posed together to take a family picture. I’m the bunny in pink and Abby and Brianna are behind me. Takeo is holding Riley and Payton, and Lolita and Raven are on the end.

Day 358 - Let's Bunny It Up!

Once the pictures were done, we went to Easter Town and there was Peeps racing, egg floating, and another egg hunt! We had so much fun! I’m not sure why some people would choose to go there dressed in skanky clothes with dirty AOs, or feel the need to be cursing like maniacs on voice, in a place that is obviously designed to be more family friendly in nature, but well… I guess it is what it is. 🙂

All in all, it was a terrific night. Brianna seemed to keep up with us well, and everyone likes her. The next big step is for her to meet Aldwyn so I can see how they get along. I think he’ll like her, and people can’t help but like Aldwyn, so there shouldn’t be any problems. After that, then I guess we’ll start looking for a bigger house so the girls can have their own bedrooms. They’re sharing right now but if everything goes well and Brianna officially becomes part of our family, I’ll want them both to have their own spaces and our current house only has two bedrooms.

Lots to do, but for now, sleep. 🙂

Day 354 – Living Our Dream

And so ends our lovely vacation to the Bahamas. Do you think if I just stand out there with this sign, they’ll let me stay?

Day 354 - Living Our Dream

Probably not, huh?

So, this was my first big “immersive” family RP this week. Although we do little things here and there, most of the time Abby and I are just hanging out at home in a room or on a platform and chatting about random stuff, and when Aldwyn logs in he stands with us. Or just with me because he logs in after Abby has to go to bed. I really have to thank my Lolita and Takeo for getting us more immersed into it this week because well…they’re just really really good at it! Plus, my sister is incredible at planning things and getting everyone involved. Way, way better than me, so I definitely learned from her this week.

Last night as I was getting ready to sleep, I was thinking about everything that I’ve done that has led me to this point in my SLife. As you guys have learned by now, this is not my first avatar, although it is the one that I’ve been on for wayyyy longer than I was on my first. I’ve done the club scene, and the fetish thing, and I’ve been a runway model, and I’ve been a super snarky blogger. I’ve just done all these random things that I’ve usually enjoyed, but most of it never truly fit me.

At our dance last night, Takeo played the song “Everything Is Awesome” and one of the lyrics is “Everything is awesome when we’re living our dream!” I made the offhand comment, “I didn’t even know this WAS my dream!” But thinking more about it, maybe this has been my dream all along. Maybe this is exactly what I was searching for in SL from the beginning. I can’t remember ever being so happy in SL before. I’ve been happy, of course, but not like this. Not at all like this.

But, I guess it’s time to get back to Bluebonnet. Vacations have to end some time, right? I want to make some springy Easter type nail polishes, and I know Abby is excited to get back to building to release some things in her store. And Aldwyn seriously needs to change his Bob Marley shorts. *laughs* Huge thank you and much much love to our Oleander family for putting together the vacation plans and just for being them. They are truly the best family anyone could ask for on this crazy grid!

Day 348 – But REALLY…

Awesome day! This post is kinda picture heavy today, but I’m sure you all don’t mind. 🙂

As always, Thursdays are BUMBLEBEE night! We start off every meeting with some exercise!

Bumblebee Stretch!

Tonight was Space Night! Takeo taught us all of the planets [even the dirty sounding one] and Lolita told a space story about aliens! Takeo and I helped during the story by doing some moves. I think we’re just this much closer to Broadway, really. After the story, we gathered up our little Bumblebees and headed off into space!

Bumblebees In Spaaaaace!

I don’t know how other troops do it, but we always have a snack at the end of the meeting. Since I’m the den mommy, I always get to come up with the snack. And tonight’s snack was milkshakes!

Bumblebee Snack Time!

Even though it was Bumblebee night, it was also PACKING NIGHT! I started packing before the meeting tonight. I SWEAR, everything is absolutely necessary. I mean, we’re going to be gone from tomorrow night until next Thursday!

I really need all of this!!

After the meeting, I went to see how Abby was doing with her packing. All of this is also necessary. Including the 25 pairs of underpants she’s bringing. *snickers*

She only packed a little, too!!

Before it was time for her to go to bed, she wanted to take a few things down. I just didn’t realize HOW she planned on getting things down the stairs.

Oh...that's not good.

Aldwyn says she is totally my child.

But little girls need their rest, so we put her to bed so she can be bright-eyed and bushy tailed tomorrow. I ran down to the car to put a few things down. I think we might be in need of a bigger car soon.

This is totally safe!

By the time Aldwyn brought a couple of suitcases down, I had gotten my innertube strapped to the top of the car. I think he didn’t quite understand the whole packing business. But REALLY…really… All of this is necessary!

Day 348 - But REALLY...

Tomorrow is going to be so so fun!

Day 347 – Necessary

Do you ever let something annoy you long past the time you should devote any kind of attention to it? Something very minor happened yesterday to me and I’ve been chewing on it like it’s an old nasty piece of gum that I just can’t spit out. I haaate when I get into these little snits, but luckily it doesn’t happen too often.

But it did remind me to be more appreciative of what’s necessary in my SLife.

Like…my family! Tonight we went over to the Oleanders’ house for Taco Tuesday! Abby tried to tuck some tacos away to bring home since I never cook. *laughs* My sister is way better at feeding her family than I am! We even had sundaes for dessert. Riley must have put a whole cup of sprinkles all over her ice cream. Afterwards, we headed out to the lawn so the kids could play and we could chat.

Watching our kids

Takeo read a bedtime story to everyone about some mangoes, a monkey who was kind of a jerk, baby eating, and a crocodile who was not really down with mangoes. I’m sure their normal bedtime story reading usually goes better, but well, the Zanzibar side of the family is kind of…loud. We’re sorry. [Not sorry.]

Ooh, I haven’t mentioned it, but we’re taking a family vacation to the Bahamas!! We have our plane tickets and passports already, but we have to shop and pack this week! Of course, Aldwyn and Takeo, being men, are basically taking just a ziploc bag of essentials. We girls are the ones who might need a separate plane to take all our gear! Does anyone know where to buy surfboards and waterskis that will work with kids, too? I’m just so excited for this trip! This will be our first big thing we get to do as a family and that makes it totally special to me.

But since we’ll be leaving on Friday and coming back next Thursday, Lolita and Takeo wanted to get things for scouts set up in advance for this week and next week. That required a trip to get some things. While we were at the place, this girl showed up and just stood there. And stood there. Annnnd stood there. In her texture lingerie type thing and…TEXTURE BOOTS. She is over 7 years old but looked like she hadn’t changed her clothes since her initial rez date.

You're from 2007???

And she plays Bloodlines. So there’s that.

After saying goodnight to Lolita and Takeo, we settled into our skybox to chat until bedtime. This is also necessary in my SLife, time with Aldwyn so he can listen to me talk about whatever it is that is bothering me [or not bothering me. Really, I just tell him everything.] and I can relax.

Day 347 - Necessary

But as you can see, I’m exhausted. Goodnight!

Day 342 – Follow Your Arrow

Such a fun fun night! It was my brother-in-law Takeo’s birthday! And we celebrated with a secret surprise birthday party! It was a country party and I was the DJ. We had about 30 people show up during the party. Not that I really got to see anyone, but my sister has pics and gifs in her plurk, if you have her there. And tomorrow when I log back in, I’ll take some pics of the party area. It actually came out super cute.

Before the party, Abby and I were getting ready, and I figured that would be a perfect time to get a picture of us. Especially since I have the cute pose prop from Click from The Arcade!

Day 342 - Follow Your Arrow

Isn’t she the cutest? I love her so much!

I’m so happy we were able to spend some time with our family, extended family, and friends tonight. I’m definitely going to bed with a big smile and a lot of happy thoughts!

Day 339 – Heart Full Of Rainbows

What a wonderful day our family has had! This weekend has really been awesome because we’ve gotten to spend so much time together hanging out at the yard sale. Earlier, Abby told us to just type “Wear” into our inventory and see what comes up. That’s how I ended up looking like this.

Day 339 - Heart Full Of Rainbows

Our family grew some tonight, too! The Oleanders asked Riley to go on trial with them! If you’re not familiar with the whole adoption thing in SL, families usually go on a “trial” run with each other – usually about a week, sometimes longer or shorter – to see how they like being around each other, to see if the timing works, and just to see if they feel comfortable being family. If things don’t work out, then the parents or the kid can end the trial and go their separate ways without too many hurt feelings. I think the trial will go really well because we’ve been hanging out with Riley a lot and she seems to fit in pretty well with the Oleanders, and with us, too. Our family is pretty tight these days – everyone has a say in things!

But sometimes a trial isn’t necessary. And it wasn’t necessary when the Oleanders invited us all to a tea party and then asked Payton, their goddaughter, to become their daughter!! She’s been their goddaughter since October and we all just adore her, so when they planned on asking her, we were thrilled! Of course she said yes, because she’s really been part of the family all along, it just needed to be official! Then we got to sit and vote on her new middle name because she asked if they would give her one, and if we’d left it up to Raven, she’d have been Payton Enchilada. LOL! But now she’s Payton Victoria Oleander. 🙂

Best of all, Aldwyn came home from his trip tonight! Abby and I were totally happy because we missed him bunches. And, because he loves me soooo much, he immediately got to work on my Arcade wishlist!! He’s FAST, too. I really really didn’t expect him to get started on it tonight, but he practically finished the whole thing! He even managed to put some things out at the yard sale tonight before finally needing to pass out. Traveling always exhausts me, so I was surprised he even made it in tonight, much less had the energy to shop! I have the best husband.

Oh, and before anyone asks- No. Aldwyn and I are not planning on adopting any other kids right now. We’re totally happy with Abby being our one and only kid. Plus, we only have a two bedroom house and if we got another kid, they’d have to sleep in the garage or out in a tent in the backyard! *snickers* I did tell Abby if she ever met another kid in SL that she felt would be a good sibling for her, we’d consider it. So uh, I guess if you ever wanted to be adopted by me, you better suck up to Abby a lot. LOL!!!

My heart is full of rainbows and sunshine tonight. 🙂

Day 323 – Just A Little Free Shopping!

Can you keep a secret? Sometimes I sneak over to the Oleanders’ house and do some grocery shopping. They never seem to notice. I mean, look. They weren’t even going to be home for a week and my sister left out a whole cake!! That cake couldn’t POSSIBLY be good in a week!

How could they just leave a cake out??

As I was filling my shopping cart, I was looking for Takeo’s Twinkie stash. Usually he has Twinkies in the kitchen, but I looked all over and there were NO Twinkies!! Ohhh, he thought he’d be HIDE them from me?! How rude.

I searched high and low and finally… FINALLY… I found them.

Day 323 - Just A Little Free Shopping!

I told the cat to look the other way.

So I’m quite lucky that my sister is a lot better at grocery shopping than I am. Once we get our new house, I’ll have to try to remember to keep the kitchen stocked. After all, I have a child to feed and we don’t really know anyone who is getting married so we can make a plate at the reception to bring home.

But remember, all this is between you and me!

They'll never miss any of this!
